Welcome to BP Card, a platform designed to create the personalized Bariatric Postoperative Card "BP Card" according to the provided medical history of each patient. Before using our services, accessing our website, and/or social media, please carefully read the following terms and conditions:

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using the Bariatric Postoperative Card “BP Card” and accessing our services, as well as the website and social media related to it, hereinafter referred to as “the platforms,” you understand that you are giving your acceptance and agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions, as well as our privacy policy.

5. Side Effects, Complications, and Risks

The patient and user acknowledge and understand that bariatric procedures that may be referred to may be associated with side effects, potential complications, and expected risks, which are entirely independent of the services provided with the Bariatric Postoperative Card “BP Card”. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • ●  Insufficient or excessive weight loss;

  • ●  Nutritional deficiencies;

  • ●  Cardiac or respiratory complications, among others.

5.1. Complications Resulting from Bariatric Surgery

The patient and user acknowledge and understand that undergoing bariatric surgery may result in the following side effects:

●  Intraoperative complications: those inherent in any surgical procedure, especially in high-risk patients, such as intestinal perforation, injury to an adjacent organ, vascular injury, possibility of converting a laparoscopic procedure to an open procedure, bleeding, shock, cardiopulmonary arrest, and death.

 

●  Postoperative complications: dehiscence or leakage of the suture or staples line, surgical wound infection, incisional hernias, bleeding, hypovolemic shock, peritonitis, septic shock, lung atelectasis, respiratory infections, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, myocardial infarctions, hypertensive crises and emergencies, strokes, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, hemodynamic, metabolic, and electrolyte alterations.

 

Due to the characteristics of the selected procedure, there is a risk of acute and chronic malnutrition, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, nutritional diseases, anemia, postoperative adhesions, intestinal obstruction, gastric ulcer, gastric dilation, weight loss or gain, kidney and gallstone formation.
